Abdou, kitesurfing and wingfoiling instructor, smiling at the lagoon

Your instructor

Hi, I'm Abdou.

My name is Abdelilah El Haimas and I am 27 years old. I am passionate about water sports, with more than 10 years of experience, and I am an instructor in several disciplines: kitesurfing, wingfoiling, windsurfing and surfing.

Water sports are not just a passion for me; they are an important part of my life.

  • Arabic · English · French
  • Teaching kite since 2018 · wing since 2020
  • IKO Level 1 Instructor (kite)

How you learn

From your first lesson to riding on your own.

Everyone learns at their own pace. We only move on when the step before feels safe — some get there faster, some need a little more time. Both are completely normal.

Kitesurfing lesson in the Dakhla lagoon

Kitesurfing

  1. On the beachHow kite, bar and lines work, and how to stop the kite at any moment. Then you fly it until steering feels natural.
  2. Body dragInto the water without a board: the kite pulls, you steer. You also learn how to get back to a lost board.
  3. WaterstartBoard on your feet and the first metres riding — the moment most people wait for.
  4. Speed and upwindControlling your speed and holding your line upwind, so you come back where you started.
  5. On your ownTurning and riding back by yourself. From here you can go out independently.

Wingfoiling

  1. On the beachHolding the wing, the wind window and the leash. You learn to steer and depower it on land.
  2. Big boardOn a large, stable board without a foil: kneeling first, then standing, pulled by the wing.
  3. Riding and turningRiding back and forth, going upwind and turning around.
  4. First flightsOnto the foil board: your first short flights above the water.
  5. On your ownStable flight and turns. From here you ride independently.

How I teach

Safe, step by step — and fun.

My way of teaching

  • Safety first. Equipment, quick release and self-rescue come before anything else.
  • No shortcuts. Every step builds on the one before it.
  • Your independence is the goal — not more lessons.
  • It's your holiday. Progress should feel good, not like an exam.

Your safety

  • Wind, tide and spot are checked before every session.
  • I keep my eyes on you the whole time you are on the water.
  • You learn self-rescue before you ride.
  • Helmet, impact vest and harness are provided, and the gear is checked regularly.

Insurance is not included. Please bring travel insurance that covers kitesurfing or wingfoiling lessons.

What guests say

My husband and I took a kitesurf lesson that was really cool. First, they picked us up at the hotel and drove us to the beach. Our instructor explained everything perfectly, we had fun and he made us feel safe all the time. He was paying attention to both of us all the time, adapting the level according to how we were managing the situation. […] At the end of the lesson, they drove us back to the hotel safe and sound.

Great kite school with a friendly and professional team. The lessons were well organized, fun, and I made great progress in a short time. Highly recommended – I would definitely come back!
